Step-by-step onboarding Feature docs FAQ & troubleshooting

Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up your author dashboard and start organizing your book catalog.

1

Create Your Account

Head to the registration page and sign up with your email, a password, and your pen name. Your pen name is how readers will find you, and it creates your public author page automatically.

  • Choose a pen name you publish under (you can add more later with a paid plan)
  • Pick a color for your pen name — this color-codes your books, calendar, and stats throughout the app
  • Verify your email via the link we send you
2

Set Up Your Pen Name Profile

Navigate to Library → Pen Names and click your pen name to edit it. This profile powers your public author page.

  • Bio: Write a short author biography that appears on your public page
  • Profile Photo: Upload a headshot or author avatar
  • Social Links: Add links to your Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Goodreads, or personal website
  • Custom Slug: Your public page URL will be https://storykeepr.com/author/your-slug
Free
3

Add Your First Book

Go to Library → Books and click Add Book, or use the Quick Add shortcut (Cmd+K / Ctrl+K).

  • Basic Info: Enter your title, subtitle, ASIN, blurb, and assign it to a pen name
  • ASIN Lookup: Enter your ASIN and click lookup to auto-populate title, cover, description, and pricing from Amazon
  • Series: If the book belongs to a series, create the series first or select an existing one
  • Keywords: Add up to 7 Amazon keywords for tracking
  • Cover: Upload a cover image, or let StoryKeepr pull it from Amazon via ASIN
  • Retailer Links: Add links to Amazon (auto-generated from ASIN), Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, and more
  • Formats & Pricing: Enter pricing for eBook, paperback, and hardcover editions

Once saved, StoryKeepr automatically generates a public landing page for your book with universal buy links, shareable URL, and click tracking.

Everything about managing your books, audiobooks, series, pen names, and keywords.

Books

Free — up to 50 books

Your book catalog is the core of StoryKeepr. Each book entry includes:

  • Title, subtitle, and blurb — supports basic formatting (bold, italic)
  • ASIN & ISBN — for Amazon integration and metadata lookup
  • Cover image — upload your own or auto-fetch from Amazon
  • Retailer links — Amazon (auto-generated from ASIN), Apple Books, Kobo, B&N, Google Play, Smashwords, direct purchase, and custom links
  • Multiple formats — separate pricing and ASINs for eBook, paperback, and hardcover
  • Status tracking — mark books as draft, published, pre-order, or out of print
  • Amazon keywords — store and organize up to 7 keywords per book
  • Release date — automatically appears on your calendar

Public Book Pages

Every book gets a free, SEO-optimized public landing page with your cover, blurb, and universal buy links. The URL format is https://storykeepr.com/author/your-name/book/book-title. Each book also gets a short link at https://storykeepr.com/go/XXXX for sharing.

Bulk Editing

Need to update many books at once? Use Bulk Edit (accessible from the Books list) to change pen name, status, series, or other fields across multiple books simultaneously.

CSV Import

Have an existing book catalog? Go to Library → Books and click Import CSV to bulk-import books from a spreadsheet:

  • Download the template — a ready-made CSV with all supported columns
  • Supported fields: pen name, title, subtitle, series, price, currency, release date, language, ASIN, ISBN, status, blurb, and retailer links (Apple, Google Play, B&N, Kobo, Smashwords, and more)
  • Multi-line blurbs: Wrap blurbs in quotes and they’ll import perfectly, even across multiple lines
  • Preview before importing: See a full validation table showing which rows are valid, which have warnings (e.g., duplicate titles), and which have errors (e.g., missing title or duplicate ASIN)
  • Cover images: Upload covers per book during preview, or let StoryKeepr auto-fetch covers from Amazon for rows with ASINs
  • Series auto-creation: New series are automatically created during import if they don’t already exist for that pen name
  • Select which rows to import — toggle individual rows on or off before confirming

Free plans can import up to 50 books total. Paid plans have no limit.

Free — up to 20 audiobooks

Track your audiobook editions separately from eBooks. Audiobooks support:

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about StoryKeepr.

Yes! The Starter plan is genuinely free forever — no credit card required, no time limit. You can manage up to 50 books, 20 audiobooks, and 1 pen name with full access to public landing pages, the calendar, promotion tracker, ASIN lookup, and more. The Standard plan adds unlimited books/audiobooks and professional marketing tools, while the Plus plan adds unlimited pen names for multi-genre authors.

You’ll see a friendly message letting you know you’ve reached the limit. Your existing data stays exactly as it is — nothing is deleted or hidden. You just won’t be able to add new items of that type until you upgrade or remove existing ones. You can upgrade to Standard or Plus at any time from Settings → Billing.

When you create a book, StoryKeepr automatically generates a public landing page with your cover, blurb, and retailer links. The page is SEO-optimized and mobile-friendly. You get a shareable URL and a short link. When a reader clicks a retailer link, they’re taken to the appropriate store — and for Amazon, they’re automatically redirected to their local Amazon storefront. Every click is tracked so you can see analytics.

Yes! The Starter (free) and Standard plans include 1 pen name, and the Plus plan gives you unlimited pen names. Each pen name has its own color, public page, social links, and is fully independent. You can filter the entire app by pen name using the dropdown in the top bar.

No — StoryKeepr works independently. You just enter your book’s ASIN and we fetch metadata from Amazon’s public API. You don’t need to connect your KDP account, and we never need your Amazon login credentials. Retailer links are simply URLs you paste in.

ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) is Amazon’s unique identifier for products. When you enter an ASIN, StoryKeepr can automatically pull in the book title, cover image, description, and pricing. This saves you from manually entering all that data. You can find your ASIN on your book’s Amazon product page — it’s in the “Product details” section.

Absolutely. You can cancel from Settings → Billing at any time. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Starter plan. Your data is never deleted — if you had more books than the Starter limit allows, they’ll still be there (you just won’t be able to add new ones until you’re under the limit or re-subscribe).

Yes. Your data is stored securely with encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. We don’t sell or share your data with third parties. You can export all your data at any time (Standard plan), and you can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account.

If you have an Amazon Associates account, you can add your affiliate tag in Settings → Affiliate Tags (Standard plan). StoryKeepr will automatically append your tag to Amazon links on your public book pages, so you earn a commission on any purchases made through those links. You can set global tags or per-pen-name tags, and regional tags for different Amazon storefronts.

Yes, with the Standard plan you can point your own domain (e.g., books.yourname.com) to your StoryKeepr author page. This is set up through the pen name settings with a simple DNS change. StoryKeepr handles the rest, including SSL certificates.

You can reach us through the Contact page, submit a feature request from Settings → Feature Requests inside the app, or join our Discord community for live support and discussion. We read every message and typically respond within 24 hours.
